My name is Yuliana Santos Ventura, and I aspire to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Throughout my undergraduate years, I have been a part of Scholars Academy since the Fall 2023 term and have learned to lead and mentor other students.
Beyond my undergraduate home campus, I am also a JAMP Scholar and an American Heart Association Scholar. Through these programs, I have learned to navigate academic and professional environments, engage in research, and collaborate with peers and mentors who share similar goals.
I am also a proud hospice volunteer and enjoy meeting new people as well as helping patients and their families navigate some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Outside of this role, I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, which allows me to maintain a strong sense of balance. Together, these experiences have shaped me to have compassionate care and have prepared me to pursue a career in medicine to address my community’s needs.
