HETS celebra exitosa novena edición del
Student Leadership Showcase

El Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS), llevó a cabo con gran éxito el pasado viernes 16 de septiembre, la novena edición del Student Leadership Showcase 2022, el cual se celebró de manera híbrida, desde el Teatro de la Universidad Interamericana, Recinto Metro, y a través de Zoom. El evento contó con la participación de más de 700 estudiantes de instituciones y organizaciones en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, y Latinoamérica.

Los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de la presentación del doctor Ángel Toledo, “La educación transformadora: decisiones para mi vida”; y el panel “Invierte en tu conocimiento: estudia + emprende + triunfa”,moderado por el doctor Toledo, y con la participación de los influencers Nicole Chacón, reportera y animadora de WAPA Televisión; Arnaldo Santiago, bloguero de Diary of Trips y Jafet Santiago, dueño de Sparkof y productor de eventos. El evento contó con la animación del doctor Albert Troche, Director de Actividades Extracurriculares del Decanato de Estudiantes, de la Universidad Interamericana, Recinto de Bayamón.

HETS también presentó a sus nuevos embajadores, quienes servirán como un brazo de apoyo para promover los servicios y eventos disponibles para los estudiantes en sus respectivas instituciones. Estos son: Karina López Franqui de la Universidad Central del Caribe; Katielys Quiñonez del Colegio Universitario de San Juan; Marlene Calderón Rivera de ICPR Junior College; Alondra Albino Matta de INTER Bayamón; Jafet Pola de Atenas College; y Giancarlos Ferrer de Antillean Adventist University.

El evento también sirvió de plataforma para que Mónica de León, estudiante de Albizu University y Christian Pagán Colón, estudiante de Caribbean University, presentaran sus innovadores proyectos desarrollados como parte de sus estudios, en psicología e ingeniería, respectivamente. El primero, está enfocado en el impacto adverso del uso excesivo del Internet, y el segundo, en la implementación de proyectos de construcción con tecnología 3D.

Durante el evento, los participantes pudieron disfrutar de refrigerios cortesía de Holsum, Néctares Goya y Café Yaucono. Igualmente, se llevaron a cabo varias rifas en las que se obsequiaron: tarjetas Visa y boletos VIP para Caribbean Cinemas en el Distrito T-Mobile cortesía de Banco Popular; pasajes a varios destinos del Caribe cortesía de Cape Air; certificados de regalo de Chili’s, Macaroni Grill y P.F. Chang’s cortesía de International Restaurants; y artículos y productos Goya. Al finalizar el evento se ofreció un almuerzo a los participantes cortesía de Banco Popular, Coca-Cola y Poskón.

Last Friday September 16th, the Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) Consortium celebrated with great success, the ninth edition of the Student Leadership Showcase 2022, which was held in a hybrid format, live from the Theater of the Interamerican University, Metro Campus, and through Zoom. More than 700 students participated from institutions and organizations in Puerto Rico, the United States, and Latin America.

Students had the opportunity to enjoy Dr. Ángel Toledo’s presentation, Transformative education: decisions for my life; and from the panel Invest in your knowledge: study + undertake + succeed, moderated by Dr. Toledo, and with the participation of influencers Nicole Chacón, reporter and host of WAPA Television; Arnaldo Santiago, blogger for Diary of Trips, and Jafet Santiago, event producer and owner of Sparkof. Dr. Albert Troche, Director of Extracurricular Activities of the Dean of Students, of the Interamerican University, Bayamón Campus was the master of ceremonies for this event.

HETS also introduced its new ambassadors, who will serve as a support team, within their respective institutions, to promote the services and events available to students. The new ambassadors are Karina López Franky from Universidad Central del Caribe; Katielys Quiñonez from the Colegio Universitario de San Juan; Marlene Calderón Rivera from ICPR Junior College; Alondra Albino Matta from INTER Bayamón; Jafet Pola of Atenas College; and Giancarlos Ferrer of Antillean Adventist University.

The event also served as a platform for Mónica de León, a student at Albizu University, and Christian Pagán Colón, a student at Caribbean University, to present their innovative projects developed as part of their studies, in psychology and engineering, respectively. The first is focused on the adverse impact of the excessive use of the Internet, and the second, on the implementation of construction projects with 3D technology.

During the event, the participants were able to enjoy refreshments courtesy of Holsum, Néctares Goya, and Café Yaucono. Likewise, several raffles were held in which the following were given away: Visa cards and VIP tickets for Caribbean Cinemas in the T-Mobile District courtesy of Banco Popular; air tickets to various Caribbean destinations courtesy of Cape Air; gift certificates from Chili’s, Macaroni Grill and P.F. Chang’s courtesy of International Restaurants; and Goya articles and products. At the end of the event, a lunch was offered to the participants courtesy of Banco Popular, Coca-Cola and Poskón.
