Pamela Doran Student Ambassador, SUNY Empire State University

I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as Critical Race Theory in higher education. Professionally, I serve as the Digital Accessibility and Machine Translation/Multilingual Technology Coordinator at SUNY Empire, where I help lead initiatives to promote inclusive technology and equitable access for all learners. My academic goals center on shaping institutional policy that supports linguistic justice and digital accessibility, particularly for multilingual and neurodivergent communities.

I have won the SUNY Cancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence and The Rockefeller Institute’s Future Leaders in Policy Competition. Recently I received an Innovative Instruction Technology Grant from SUNY to develop a system for culturally responsive machine translation at my University.

Outside of work and academics, I volunteer with the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement and have been an active member of Lions International for 15 years. I run a Tech Lab at my local library to help members of my community learn how to use technology safely and effectively.

In my free time, I enjoy building miniature dollhouses, blending historical research with creativity to design Victorian-style playhouses that are safe for children. I also enjoy Tae Kwon Do, reading speculative fiction, learning new languages, and experimenting with AI tools that support multilingual learning.

I bring curiosity, care, and a strong sense of purpose to everything I do.
