New International Member benefits from Informational Videoconference on the Accreditation Process of MSCHE
New International Member UCC benefit from informational video conference provided from HETS in collaboration with Dr. Maritza Ortíz, IUPR.
The Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia (UCC), HETS first International Member Institution, participated of an informational video conference through the HETS office during the afternoon of September 19, 2011.UCC was eager to learn more about the process to get accreditation from Middle States Commission of High er Education (MSCHE), and successfully get to know all the basics in this first stage of collaboration between UCC, Interamerican University of PR (IUPR) and HETS. Dr. Maritza Ortíz, Director of Institutional Accreditation and Licensing at the IUPR, was the person who diligently explained the process to various participants from UCC.
Dr. Ortíz is responsible for coordinating the process of re-accreditation of the IUPR in the spring of 2013. She is the person in charge of this project and will receive the MSCHE during the process at IUPR. Dr. Ortíz have participated in several professional activities carried out by the MSCHE, directed to its affiliated organizations and have also collaborated with academic units to handle the requirements of Middle States in route to the accreditation.
The Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia has 19 campuses in different cities of the country. It is an institution of superior education of social property linked to the Social Economy sector with more than 45 thousand students. Recently, HETS traveled to Bogotá, Cali and Medellín, Colombia to offer tailored workshops to several higher education institutions, among them UCC. From this outreach effort they decided to join the Consortium. With the affiliation of UCC this year, HETS expands its vision to South America, which is also present in Puerto Rico, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Florida and New Mexico.
