President of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Manuel Fernós, Esq., was reelected as HETS Chairman during the annual summer Board Meeting celebrated at Lehman College, NY on June 19-20, 2014. Collaborating with Fernós as HETS Board of Officers will be Dr. Gloria Baquero, President of National University College elected as First Vice Chair; Dr. Carlos Vargas, Interim President from Kutztown University, reelected as Second Vice Chair, and President of the Ana G. Méndez University System, Dr. José F. Méndez elected as the new Treasurer. Additional reelections includes; Dr. Dario Cortés, President of Berkeley College as secretary; Eng. Gladys Nieves, President of EDP College; and Dr. Carole Berrotte Joseph, President of Bronx Community College; as regional representatives. The HETS Board also welcomes new additions to its Executive Committee with the election of Dr. Richard Shrubb, President of Minnesota West Community and Technical Institute and Dr. Carlos Morales, President of TCC Connect at Tarrant County College in Texas also as regional representatives.
As part of the meeting, the Board also recognized HETS former Treasurer, and President of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, Dr. José Jaime Rivera, on his retirement and were thankful of his commitment and valuable contributions to HETS during the past years.
HETS would like to congratulate its Executive Committee and appreciates its support and confidence in our Consortium to promote support, and increase the capabilities of member institutions in order to enhance Hispanic/Latino student success and opportunities in Higher Education.
