The College of Staten Island is the City University of New York`s presence in Staten Island, one of five boroughs that comprise New York City. Serving over 13,000 undergraduate students and nearly 1000 graduate students on its beautiful park-like campus, CSI offers a unique opportunity to study and work in a comfortable suburban setting with convenient access to all that CUNY and New York City have to experience. The College`s fourteen academic buildings, Center for the Arts, library, Sports& Recreation Center, and astrophysical observatory house state-of-the art laboratories, performance spaces, offices, classrooms, study lounges, and technology, including a supercomputer. Residence halls planned to open in fall 2010 will provide comfortable living accommodations for students and visiting faculty.
CSI offers associate`s, bachelor`s, and master`s degree programs in many disciplines, in addition to several doctoral programs in cooperation with the CUNY Graduate School and University Center. Prominent areas of study and research at the College of Staten Island include scientific computation, polymer science, international education, gender studies, and professional programs in education and health sciences. The College has a large program in business with many specializations including accounting, finance, and international business.

The College of Staten Island is accredited as an institution of higher education by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the accrediting organization for states in the mid-Atlantic region of the USA. Individual academic programs at the College of Staten Island are recognized by national accrediting organizations in their disciplines: The Chemistry program is accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS), Computer Science and Engineering Science receive their accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the College`s many Education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), Nursing programs hold accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), and the Physical Therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
