Inter American University, Arecibo Campus

Presenters: Jorge Roig Lago, Magdiel Martinez Alicea, Inter American University, Arecibo Campus

Project: Molecular Docking-Based Identification of Potential Wee1 Kinase Inhibitors from ZINC Drug Database

Description of the project: The project focuses on the in silico identification of potential Wee1 kinase inhibitors using a molecular docking and drug-likeness filtering pipeline. The central goal is to discover new lead-like compounds that could eventually advance toward in vitro anticancer validation

Biographies:

Jorge Roig Lago, Biology student from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Arecibo’s Campus.

Dr. Magdiel Martínez Alicea is a professor of Science and Technology at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico with a PhD in Physiology & Biophysics, specializing in biotechnology, molecular biology, and computational drug discovery. He actively mentors undergraduate researchers, leads projects on coffee genomics and anticancer in silico screening, and promotes youth development through sports science and community baseball initiatives.
