Concurrent with its summer Board Meeting last June 25 and 26, HETS celebrated a Special Event at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). The main purpose of the event was to connect key administrators in four different areas: Retention, Assessment, Distance Learning and Information Technologies to discuss common issues on their area and share their best practices. Experts from member’s institutions in New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Puerto Rico and Colombia participated from the round tables discussions on these relevant topics shared their best practices and exposed their ideas both at BMCC and also through the Blackboard Collaborate HETS virtual room.
During the first day of the event, participants exchanged their ideas and best practices with the moderators Mr. Alfredo Calderón, HETS Consultant and Dr. Robert Whittaker from Lehman College (NY) and selected team leaders to present findings and highlights of the discussion on each track to be presented to the HETS Board Members. During the second day of the event, Dr. Richard LaManna (Bronx Community College), Dr. Robert Whittaker and Ms. Janey Flanagan (BMCC) presented the findings of discussion on the Assessment, Retention, and Distance Learning/Information Technology respectively to the HETS Board Members.
