My overall goal is to be a part of a university cabinet. As of right now, my professional goal is to learn the different positions as a new Director, and the future as a Dean, Vice President then President of a University.

I am most interested in learning more about ways to prepare myself for a future in various roles in academia. I would also like to learn more about the challenges other institutions face especially those identified as HSIs although my institution is not an HSI, I feel we may face similar challenges with other groups and populations on campus like underserved and first-generation students.

Sufficient mental health support
Creating a classroom environment that is multifaceted in meeting the learning needs of students and making learning creative with more technology, hands on experiences and visionary examples.
Student engagement and incorporating other ways of engagement since it seems to have decreased since COVID.

We currently do not have distance learning as an option as all of our teaching occurs in person. I believe leveraging instructional technology has been more recently encouraged as our institution has been focusing a lot on High Impact Practices which integrating various modules of learning is a part of that.

I think keeping the liberal arts program perspective is critical because it allows students to have an expansive intellectual understanding of various fields and larger learning components. I think this model provides a well-rounded, comprehensive and engaging form of education.
