1. From your perspective, what are the top three issues facing higher education today? Why?
Higher education is confronting academic and administrative issues. On the administrative side recruitment, retention and access to technology is becoming a mainstream. How are the universities redesigning their strategies to maintain themselves as a global opportunity for students and faculty. Technology infrastructure and security are other issues to evaluate closely. On the academic side we have program curriculum, e-learning service, online education, and training. Which need a cradle-to-cradle implementation to be able to recruit and retain students. While the development of a effective training curriculum development for distance education is highly needed.
2. What are your own institution’s priorities and challenges with regard to leveraging instructional technology and distance education for the benefit of the entire organization?
In continuity of the issues facing higher education, I need to state that my Institution needs to address more aggressively distinction and services between e-learning service and online education. Aligned with the recognition that online education is not a process of virtualizing their on-campus programs. Making these distinctions and allocating technological resources will benefit and attract students and faculty to an engaged and innovative structure.
3. If have the influence to instill change at your Institution, was one thing you could change, what would that be; and what is the unique aspect of your institution you would like to keep?
If I would have the opportunity to influence a change in my Institution, I would like to implement a curriculum development model specifically for the creation of programs to be offered thru distance education. A model that thru a cycle will create a live program curriculum that aligns competencies, knowledge and innovation to graduate a 21st Century professionals able to insert him or herself in highly competitive workforce.
