General description of the initiative or project
South Texas College implemented a Quality Enhancement Plan that redesigned the traditional developmental math three-course sequence (MATH 80, MATH 85 and MATH 90) into a two-course sequence (MATH 100 and MATH 200) with expanded lab hours and a redesigned pedagogical approach, including increased lab time and computer-aided instruction. In addition, the proposed design incorporated mandatory assessment, active learning techniques, computer assisted instruction and intensive student support services.
