In my community, I work as a coach for a softball club that helps young athletes get college scholarships. I have been with this group for seven years, and have helped over 30 athletes receive scholarships in that time.

Part VI. Statement of Purpose
1. From your perspective, what are the top three issues facing higher education today? Why? (no more than 300 words) / Desde su perspectiva, ¿cuáles son los tres principales problemas que enfrenta la educación superior hoy día? ¿Por qué? (máximo de 300 palabras)
The top three issues facing higher education today are costs associated to getting an education that students take the brunt of, university access to funding in order to continue to educate students to the best of our ability, and the expansion of access to college educations for minority students.
2. What are your own institution’s priorities and challenges with regard to leveraging instructional technology and distance education for the benefit of the entire organization? (no more than 300 words) / ¿Cuáles son las prioridades y los retos de su institución con respecto al aprovechamiento de la tecnología educativa y la educación a distancia en beneficio de toda la organización? Our priority is to use the technology available to use to delivery content and instruction to a wide demographic of students, but a challenge that comes with this is to do this in a way that does not drastically raise prices for students who are seeking a degree through our institution.
3. If have the influence to instill change at your Institution, was one thing you could change, what would that be; and what is the unique aspect of your institution you would like to keep? If I can, I will work towards expanding flexible learning modalities at my institution, because I believe that many of our more traditional offerings to not support the changing student demographics that we’ve seen over the last decade. I do think our online department does a fantastic job of working towards this, and would like to see the university expand our department to help with these issues in the future.
