In collaboration with the IAU of PR for 11 years and currently the Retention Director and Starfish Administrator at Inter American University in Ponce, PR. Joined IAU Marketing Department in 2004 and managed the university’s Cyber Studies Centers. In 2012 joined the campus newly created Center for Integration and Academic Retention as Retention Director. I was the implementation manager for the Starfish Retention Solutions project and the lead Starfish Administrator for the institution. Currently responsible for the day to day student monitoring and staff supervision.
General description of the initiative or project
The Ponce Campus started the CIAR project in 2012 after receiving a Tittle V Grant to fund the resources need it to embark on this student success solution. The center focused in 3 major areas which are: Retention, Academics and Technology. The center also, contributes with the creation of videos, podcast and other multimedia academic material to support the enhancement of classes at our campus with the integration of technology equipment at the classroom. We also monitor and offer mentoring service to all newly enrolled and first year students and offer them orientation, motivation speeches, student life training, etc.
