About
EDP University was founded in 1969, is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, to award Associate, Bachelor’s, and master’s Degrees. EDP also holds the Accreditations Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accreditation for the associate degree and bachelor’s in science of nursing in all campuses. The MAGAE modality (Modalidad de Adultos del Grado Asociado en Enfermería) started in 2008 and has become our signature program combining Health and Technology to intentionally serve the underserved population of Hispanics (65% Cubans averaging 39 years of age) but also our innovative contribution to economic development in the communities where our campuses operate through housing, food and other services that visiting students require during their three month long stays in Puerto Rico. Pathways your Institution offers to bachelor’s and/or graduate programs in areas where Hispanics are underrepresented: EDP University has approved various federal projects that offer scholarships or economic stipends for students Promoting Retention and Graduation Rates in STEM Careers (PRG-STEM) was approved for $5,000,000.00 for five (5) years. Project PRG-STEM impacts six (6) academic units in the School of Technology programs. The students that do their course practices receive an economic stipend once they finalize their required hours. Nursing Workforce Diversity Program (NWDP) offers scholarships to students who are residents of Puerto Rico. Likewise, a diverse selection of stipends that can be used to participate in events for students enrolled in the Associate Degree and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. There are various requisites for them: be a permanent resident in Puerto Rico, enroll themselves in the Associate’s Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing along with other requisites. Salud Sobre Ruedas, provides attention to vulnerable populations in rural communities in Puerto Rico amid the integration of the School of Nursing. We have two mobile units that are well-equipped to provide health services. Also, the project offers diverse stipends for students to participate in workshops and events.
Student Mobility
Internships, student trips, and/or cultural experiences that expose students to a bilingual environment or immersion in Spanish: Curriviajes – is a dynamic mechanism for teaching within a course, the program or academic school. Study abroad programs: The Digital Fashion Design program has an Exchange Agreement with the Southeast Missouri State University. As other travel opportunities arise students are encouraged to participated. Groups are formed and organized. Student Support Services
Our university does not provide housing; however, we collaborate with various places near all campuses for short-term rentals. Similarly, we have a collaborative deal with Hotel Nest and our Hato Rey campus is steps away from the Domenech Urban train station.
