Campuses across the country are introducing immersive learning experiences to emotionally engage students and enhance understanding of STEM and other complex subjects
HETS is proud to announce its new corporate partnership with Dreamscape Learn, a California-based company revolutionizing education through immersive, experiential learning. Dreamscape Learn was formed from a two-year collaboration between Arizona State University and Walter Parkes, co-founder of DreamWorks Motion Pictures. Their immersive VR-enabled courseware and dynamic teaching platform allows instructors to lead classes from virtually any setting relevant to their students’ field of study.
“We’ve seen that the power of immersive storytelling can not only be a powerful mover in engaging students, but also in improving outcomes amongst historically underrepresented student populations” said Josh Reibel, CEO of Dreamscape Learn. “We are thrilled for this partnership as we work to create educational environments in which all students feel supported and equipped with the tools to achieve success.”
Dreamscape Learn is transforming how students engage with complex subjects by developing immersive tools that bring learning to life. Starting with biology, Dreamscape Learn has created hyper-realistic virtual environments where students can actively participate together as scientists, exploring, analyzing, and solving real-world problems. Building on this success, they are now expanding their innovative courseware to additional STEM disciplines like chemistry and into the humanities, offering students a hands-on, collaborative approach to mastering challenging concepts.
“We are delighted to welcome Dreamscape Learn as a new corporate partner to provide the student community of our member institutions with educational environments and additional and resources to support their academic goals” said Yubelkys Montalvo, Executive Director. “In addition, this partnership is aligned with our mission of enhancing student access, retention, and success in Higher Education through the strategic integration of technology and can help close the gap of Hispanic students in STEM careers, among other areas.”
Since launching in 2022 in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), Dreamscape Learn’s immersive ‘Biology in the Alien Zoo’ course has been used in introductory biology classes reaching more than 28,000 ASU students. Research at ASU found that students performed better in courses that integrated this new approach to teaching and learning —with participants nearly 2 times more likely to achieve an A grade. With partnerships at institutions such as University of Nevada – Las Vegas, Rowan University, and Merced College, Dreamscape Learn is working towards creating a more engaging learning environment across the country.
