She is an Associate Professor in the Behavioral and Neural Sciences Program at Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU). She is a clinical psychologist with expertise in suicidal behavior and non-suicidal self-injury, borderline personality disorder, disorders related to emotional dysregulation, and trauma. She has formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), as well as in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She served as the Coordinator and Supervisor of the DBT Training Program at PHSU for seven years. She is a supervisor of doctoral psychology students who train with standardized patient techniques. Currently, she is conducting research on the experiences of stigma related to suicide in families with adolescents who have exhibited suicidal behaviors. Additionally, she has research experience related to DBT and individuals with borderline personality disorder. She is a research member of the APTECO Working Group, affiliated with the Latin American Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.
