Dr. José Ferrer

El Dr. José R. Ferrer López, recurso experto invitado a ofrecer un webinar de HETS, es catedrático en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez, donde enseña desde 2004. Es reconocido como una autoridad en educación, tecnología y liderazgo, y como una de las voces principales en Puerto Rico sobre inteligencia artificial aplicada a contextos educativos y organizacionales. Su trabajo como capacitador de capacitadores se ha centrado en el liderazgo, la administración, el diseño instruccional, la educación a distancia y la integración ética de la inteligencia artificial en la práctica profesional. Es autor de diversos libros y creador de VIP. EXED Executive Education, iniciativa mediante la cual ha capacitado a miles de docentes, ejecutivos y personal de universidades, agencias gubernamentales y empresas privadas del país. Su libro más reciente, Deficiente por diseño: El sistema educativo no está roto. Hace exactamente lo que debe, examina cómo la educación moderna produce con precisión los resultados que su arquitectura hace inevitables. Antes de dedicarse a tiempo completo al trabajo universitario, laboró doce años en el Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico, experiencia que informa su mirada crítica sobre el sistema escolar desde adentro. El Dr. Ferrer posee un doctorado en Currículo y Ambientes de Aprendizaje con énfasis en tecnología educativa, además de dos maestrías. 

Dr. José R. Ferrer López, guest expert invited to present a HETS webinar, is a professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, where he has been teaching since 2004. He is recognized as an authority on education, technology, and leadership, and as one of the leading voices in Puerto Rico on artificial intelligence applied to educational and organizational contexts. His work as a trainer of trainers has focused on leadership, administration, instructional design, distance education, and the ethical integration of artificial intelligence into professional practice. Dr. Ferrer is the author of several books and the founder of VIP.EXED Executive Education, an initiative through which he has trained thousands of teachers, executives, and staff at universities, government agencies, and private companies across the country. His most recent book, “Deficient by Design: The Education System Isn’t Broken. It Does Exactly What It’s Supposed to,” examines how modern education precisely produces the results that its architecture makes inevitable. Before devoting himself full-time to university work, he spent twelve years at the Puerto Rico Department of Education, an experience that informs his critical perspective on the school system from the inside. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Learning Environments with an emphasis on educational technology, as well as two master’s degrees.
