My name is Alanice Medina Santos, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with minors in Biochemistry and Psychology. My academic goal is to build a strong scientific foundation that will prepare me for medical school, where I hope to become a physician dedicated to providing compassionate and equitable healthcare. I am particularly interested in improving healthcare access and communication for underserved and underrepresented communities.
As a first-generation college student from a Puerto Rican household, education represents more than a personal achievement—it is a pathway to create stability for my family and serve my community. Throughout my academic journey, I have focused on developing resilience, discipline, and curiosity within the sciences.
I am passionate about community service and mentorship, especially supporting students from backgrounds similar to mine who may feel uncertain about pursuing higher education or careers in STEM. When possible, I participate in outreach and support efforts that help guide students through academic systems and opportunities being Team leader of the Bay Area Medical Explorers organization.
Outside of academics, I enjoy learning new languages, reading, and exploring topics related to health and science. I also value spending time with my family, who continue to be my greatest source of motivation.
My long-term goal is to combine science, compassion, and advocacy in medicine, ensuring that patients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their healthcare journey.
