Dr. Armando Amador
Is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Hostos Community College, CUNY. A former Hostos student who began his journey in ESL classes, he earned his doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University. His research is dedicated to empowering diverse student populations, focusing on innovative pedagogy and investigating the drivers of educational technology adoption to create more equitable and effective learning environments. His work is driven by a commitment to translating research into practical strategies that enhance student success in mathematics.
Dr. Nieves Angulo
Is the Chairwoman of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Hostos Community College, CUNY, a historic first for the department. With over 30 years of teaching experience across CUNY, SUNY, and private universities, her driving force has always been to turn student dreams into reality. She has been instrumental in developing key programs like Engineering, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity, and has successfully directed numerous grants from NSF, DoE, and NASA. Her current work on an NSF-ATE grant focuses on creating an innovative online Cybersecurity degree, embodying her commitment to expanding STEM access and opportunity for her community.
