
John Hunt
Is the Assistant Dean for Pre-College Programs in the Division of Adult and Continuing Education at LaGuardia Community College (CUNY), where he oversees non-credit, adult programs in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), GED, alternative developmental education, and post-secondary transitions. He has presented at the White House National Skills and Credential Institute, has served as a Subject Matter Expert and Coach for the American Institute for Research (AIR) Teaching Skills That Matter (TSTM) and Advance Integrated Education and Training projects, and published a chapter on noncredit pathways for New Americans in Working toward an Equitable and Prosperous Future for All: How Community Colleges and Immigrants Are Changing America. As a first-generation graduate from an immigrant family and a Spanish speaker, Mr. Hunt is dedicated to strengthening educational and career pathways for adult learners.
David A. Housel
Is the Director of the CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) at LaGuardia Community College. He has worked in the field of adult literacy, primarily with adult, immigrant emergent bi/multilingual learners (EBLs), for over 25 years and has been a licensed social worker in the State of New York for over 37 years. Dr. Housel has an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership from Hunter College (CUNY). His research interests include the preservice preparation and ongoing professional development for instructors of adult EBLs; the co-occurring factors, oppressive dynamics, and learning challenges that can impact adult learning; and guiding and supporting immigrant adults toward the most appropriate educational and vocations pathways.
