Presenters

Dr. Nieves Angulo
Is a professor of Mathematics and the first Chairwoman in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Hostos Community College (CUNY). Dr. Angulo has taught Mathematics for over 30 years in the CUNY, SUNY and private university systems. She has worked in the development of programs such as the Engineering, Computer Science and Cybersecurity programs at the college. She has directed the “Serrano-Honors” program, the Engineering Program. and has worked on numerous grants from NSF, DOE, and NASA where she has always aimed to increase the number of students in the STEM fields.


Dr. Moise Koffi
Is a Full Professor in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Hostos Community College. He directs the STEP and CSTEP programs, supporting over 500 underrepresented students in STEM each year. As PI/Co-PI, he has secured more than $9 million in NYSED and NSF grants. Dr. Koffi earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the CUNY Graduate Center in 2013. His research focuses on oscillating induced flows and heat transfer in biological systems, including elephant heat dissipation. He has published widely, presented internationally, and mentored several award-winning student research projects at statewide STEM conferences.


Dr. Christelle Dejolie
Is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Hostos Community College since Fall 2024. She began her academic journey at Hostos, pursued a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from City College of New York, an M.S. in Software Engineering from the NJ Institute of Technology and a Doctorate in Information Technology with a specialization in Cybersecurity in Fall 2023. Dr. Dejolie worked at General Electric and OPTUM for six years. She serves as a mentor for the STEP program through Proyecto Access STEP/CSTEP, guiding high school students and coordinates workshops for both the college and the community.


Amy Ramson, Esq.
Is a Professor at Hostos Community College (CUNY), where she has taught since 1990 in the paralegal and criminal justice programs. She is an attorney in New York State and Georgia. She has practiced immigration and international law in NYC and in Geneva. Areas of research include sexual harassment education; instructional technology; service learning and assessment; public interest technology; and collaborative online international learning. She incorporates cybersecurity into a criminal justice course. She has written peer-reviewed articles and has presented domestically and abroad. She is Co-PI on the NSF grant to create an online cybersecurity program.
