Taylor Newton
Majoring in Biology, Taylor has been an undergraduate student at the University of Houston-Downtown since Fall 2019. She is gaining extensive experience in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics each semester and is on track to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology by May 2026. Taylor is dedicated to pursuing a career in the medical field, with a particular focus on a surgical specialty. Her commitment to helping others is matched by her strong desire for lifelong learning. She is driven by the opportunity to provide impactful care and continually advance her knowledge and skills within the dynamic field of surgery.
Tina Prajapati
Is an undergraduate researcher in the Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Houston–Downtown. Her research focuses on screening novel chemotherapeutic compounds using multi-assay, cell-based approaches to study cancer cell survival, apoptosis, and metastasis. She has presented her work at national conferences, including SACNAS, ABRCMS, and the Texas Academy of Science (TAS), and was awarded Outstanding Research Presentation at SACNAS. Tina plans to pursue an MD/PhD to continue advancing cancer research and improving pediatric patient care.
