President Jos\u00e9 Jaime Rivera receives recognition from Secretary of State Hon. David Bernier.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

President Jos\u00e9 Jaime Rivera was recognized by the Department of State of Puerto Rico (DEPR) for his significant contribution and academic trajectory through a career full of achievements and recognitions. The surprise tribute was presented during UNESCO\u2019s cathedra event held last Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the DEPR Theater. This event brought together leading international speakers, local academic, government and other sectors leaders, who discussed the issue of Social Responsibility of Universities.<\/p>\n

As part of President Rivera\u2019s recognition and appreciation, the Secretary of State, Hon. David Bernier, \"Unesco\"<\/a>presented a proclamation to Dr. Rivera, and Dr. Lydia Espinet, Academic Dean of USC,\u00a0 read a profile and presented a video about the extensive career of President Rivera. \u00a0HETS congratulate Dr. Rivera for this tribute and appreciates his enormous collaboration and commitment to higher education within and outside of Puerto Rico.

El Presidente Jos\u00e9 Jaime Rivera fue reconocido por el Departamento de Estado de Puerto Rico (DEPR) por su trayectoria acad\u00e9mica y significativa aportaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de una carrera llena de logros y reconocimientos. El sorpresivo homenaje se realiz\u00f3 durante un evento de las C\u00e1tedras de UNESCO que se celebr\u00f3 el pasado jueves, 27 de marzo de 2014 en el Teatro del DEPR. Este evento reuni\u00f3 a importantes oradores internacionales, l\u00edderes acad\u00e9micos locales, gubernamentales y de otros sectores, quienes discutieron el tema de Responsabilidad Social de las Universidades.<\/em><\/p>\n

Como parte del reconocimiento al Presidente Rivera, el Secretario de Estado, Hon. David Bernier, entreg\u00f3 una proclama al Dr. Rivera, y la Dra. Lydia Espinet, Decana Acad\u00e9mica del USC, ley\u00f3 una semblanza y present\u00f3 un video sobre le extensa carrera del Presidente Rivera.
