{"id":17827,"date":"2021-02-08T15:12:49","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T19:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hets.org\/?p=17827"},"modified":"2021-02-08T15:12:49","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T19:12:49","slug":"hets-celebrated-its-winter-board-meeting-with-more-than-36-representatives-connected-virtually","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hets.org\/newdesign\/hets-celebrated-its-winter-board-meeting-with-more-than-36-representatives-connected-virtually\/","title":{"rendered":"HETS celebrated its Winter Board Meeting with 36 representatives connected virtually."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With&nbsp;<strong>attendance of 36 out of 42 presidents and representatives from our institutional&nbsp;members<\/strong>; HETS celebrated its second virtual winter Board Meeting on February 5, 2021 through the <strong>Zoom platform<\/strong>. The <strong>Board&nbsp;meeting discussed the first semester of academic year 2020-2021<\/strong>, the fourth year of the Strategic Plan 2017-2021. With a positive report on our Strategic plan results, including the increase of the use of our online resources, while envisioning to continue with new projects for next semester, including <strong>more webinars<\/strong> and continue offering our <strong>online workshops<\/strong> initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the initiatives, HETS shared with the Board, were highlighted the <strong>major activities <\/strong>to support the organizational programmatic goals such as the publication of the <strong>Fall Issue of the HETS Online Journal <\/strong>in another special collaboration with HACU and <strong>additional tools and services <\/strong>that were<strong> enhanced<\/strong>\u00a0to the HETS\u00a0<strong>Virtual Plaza. <\/strong>Other initiatives included\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Student Leadership<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Showcase\u00a0<\/strong>held online in September in Spanish for Puerto Rico and Latin America, and in October in English for the United States, and the\u00a0<strong>2021 Virtual Best Practices Showcase<\/strong>\u00a0Conference and Opening Session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, HETS Chair Dr. Carlos Morales welcomed the representatives of two of the four new member institutions: Dr. Daniel Ward from&nbsp;New Jersey City University, and Mr. Faust Gorham from&nbsp;California State University, Bakersfield. In addition, a corporate session was held in which various partners\u2019 representatives shared with Board Members their latest trends to support Hispanic Serving Institutions and their educational community included. Among these representatives were: Ms. Dorotha Ford and Mr. Abraham L\u00f3pez from <strong>Blackboard<\/strong>, Mr. Carlos Crespo and Ms. Maria Cruz from&nbsp;<strong>COBIMET<\/strong>, and Mr. Pablo Rodr\u00edguez from <strong>PR Top Level Domain<\/strong>.
