More than 30 Board Members and special guests connected from Puerto Rico, United States and Colombia. As part of the meeting agenda, <strong>Dr. Carlos Morales, President, TCC Connect Campus<\/strong> of Tarrant County College from Texas, <strong>was elected<\/strong> as\u00a0<strong>HETS Chair<\/strong>. Collaborating with Dr. Morales will be,\u00a0<strong>Mr. Manuel J. Fern\u00f3s<\/strong>, President of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, as\u00a0<strong>Vice Chair, Eng. Gladys Nieves<\/strong>, President of EDP University as\u00a0<strong>Treasurer; <\/strong>and <strong>Dr. Carlos Vargas<\/strong>, President of Southeast Missouri State University<strong> as Secretary.<\/strong>\u00a0Elected as Regional Representatives were:\u00a0<strong>Dr. Tom\u00e1s <\/strong><strong>Morales<\/strong>, President, California State University San Bernardino;\u00a0<strong>Dr. Havid\u00e1n Rodr\u00edguez,\u00a0<\/strong>President, University at Albany (SUNY); and <strong>Dr. Maritza Rond\u00f3n<\/strong>, Chancellor of the <em>Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia.\u00a0<\/em>All appointments will start term on July 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2020 for two years as stated in HETS Bylaws. We would like to recognize the hard work and commitment of the past officers during their tenure. We truly appreciate that they will be continuing serving as officers in a new role. To learn more about the newly appointed Officers visit: <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/hets.org\/meet-the-executive-committee\/\">Meet the Executive Committee<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This Board meeting\u00a0<strong>ends academic year 2019-2020<\/strong>, an intense year for the organization and its members, as it embarked on the implementation of recently new strategies evolved as the response of the new academic reality due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The\u00a0<strong>strategic plan framework corresponding to years 2017-2020<\/strong> focused on core areas of\u00a0<strong>access<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>retention and successful completion<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>online learning \/ technology integration was extended for an<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14317 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/hets.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Virtual-Board-Meeting-Photo_June-25-2020-400x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/> additional <\/strong>year in order to complete and adapt it to our new reality and provide better support to our member institutions and its communities.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the news shared with the Board were highlighted the\u00a0<strong>major activities<\/strong>\u00a0to support the organizational programmatic goals and added services such as:\u00a0<strong>tailored workshops and webinar\u00a0<\/strong>offerings; additional tools and services added to the\u00a0<strong>HETS Virtual Plaza<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>HETS Website.\u00a0<\/strong>Also, the results of our main events the<strong>\u00a0HETS Best Practices Showcase, Student Leadership Showcase and Online Tours <\/strong>were presented, in which\u00a0<strong>Student Ambassadors\u00a0<\/strong>program participants shared with their peers the tools and resources free of charge available for them at the Student Placita of the HETS Virtual Plaza.
