President of Southeast Missouri State University, <strong>Dr. Carlos Vargas-Aburto<\/strong>, was reelected as <strong>HETS Chair<\/strong>. Collaborating with Dr. Vargas-Aburto, <strong>Dr. Carlos Morales<\/strong>, President of TCC Connect at Tarrant County College in Texas, was elected as <strong>new Vice Chair<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12389\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12389\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12389 \" src=\"http:\/\/hets.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2018HETSDSC_5447-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"207\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12389\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Part of the elected HETS Executive Committee during Board Meeting at BCC, July 2018.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">Board Members agreed to reelect: <strong>Mr. Manuel J. Fern\u00f3s<\/strong>, President of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, as <strong>Treasurer<\/strong>; <strong>Eng. Gladys Nieves<\/strong>, President of EDP University as <strong>Secretary;<\/strong> <strong>Dr. Lorena Checa<\/strong>, Vice President for Student Affairs at California State University San Marcos; and<strong> Dr. David G\u00f3mez, <\/strong>President, Hostos Community College (CUNY) as <strong>Regional Representatives <\/strong>for the<strong> West <\/strong>and <strong>East <\/strong>areas respectively. A new appointment was also approved by the Board for <strong>Dr. Gloria Baquero<\/strong>, President of National University College as <strong>Regional Representative<\/strong>. All appointments started term on July 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2018 for two years as stated in HETS Bylaws.
