With nearly 20 years of experience in the communications field, Maribel will be supporting HETS with the development of strategic initiatives to support the organization\u2019s expansion and continuity of services for students, faculty and administrators at the over 45-member institutions in Puerto Rico, the United States and Latin America that constitute HETS. \u00a0\n\n\nMaribel is a licensed public relations professional (R-918, granted by Puerto Rico\u2019s Public Relations Accreditation Board), with experience in corporate communications, internal communications, crisis, and project management.\n\n\n\u201cWe are delighted to have Maribel on board with us again. Starting from\u00a0August 3 to 6, this\u00a0first edition will be\u00a0in\u00a0English\u00a0through online\u00a0synchronous conferences\u00a0with expert resources. In this\u00a0first edition\u00a0of the HETS Academy, 13\u00a0candidates were selected\u00a0from institutions like EDP University,\u00a0Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico,\u00a0California State University San Bernardino, Bronx Community College, Louisiana Community, and Technical College System, Broward International University, and Universidad Iberoamericana (UNINI).\n\n\nThe\u00a0acceptance to the H-LTLA\u00a0was a\u00a0competitive application process. The\u00a0Evaluation Committee\u00a0members, composed of senior staff at HETS Member Institutions selected by the HETS Board of Directors, based on their expertise, validated their peers\u2019 applications for the H-LTLA. Through this process, the evaluation committee chose the most\u00a0competitive applications\u00a0with compelling evidence that the\u00a0candidates meet all the requirements\u00a0to take full advantage of the Academy. Also, they created\u00a0a participants group with\u00a0diverse experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives.\n\n\nFinally, the HETS Academy Faculty is delighted and ready to help fill the gaps in the participant&#8217;s expertise and experience through synchronous presentations of eight different topics. The Board meeting discussed the results of the academic year 2020-2021 and the fourth year of the Strategic Plan 2017-2021. This report showed positive results like the increase of the use of online resources, more webinars with new speakers, Student Leadership Showcases in English and Spanish, continue offering HETS online workshops, among others.
