The array of technology infrastructure available at Kutztown University for student learning include teaching computer laboratories, mobile Wi-Fi laptop and tablet computer labs, classroom technology audio/visual computer presentation systems, and general purpose public computing facilities.

The campus network provides Internet access using both wired and Wi-Fi wireless technology.

That Internet capacity provides students with access to Web 2.0 collaborative tools, including the Desire-To-Learn Learning Management System.

The campus currently provides over 1500 microcomputers for student learning located in the campus computer laboratory facilities, with a ratio of approximately 75% Windows to 25% Macintosh computers for student use across the curriculum. In addition, over 90% of the students provide their own laptop computers.

The university currently maintains over 50 computer teaching classrooms or academic computing labs providing seating for students of 15 or more computers.

Kutztown University provides computer-enhanced classroom technology presentation systems in nearly 200 classrooms.

Distance Learning

Distance Learning Focus:
The Office of Distance Education was born out of the desire to combine proven instructional design strategies with the most effective pedagogical principles in a dynamic online environment to meet the diverse needs of our students.  We provide a “one stop shop” to offer support for faculty, staff and students in the area of teaching and learning.

“Modality” Hybrid and Asynchronous:
Online courses are offered in a variety of formats, including blended/hybrid, synchronous and asynchronous models.  The “modality” of instruction is determined by the instructor and is based on the most appropriate delivery model determined by course subject matter and course design.

Number of Courses and Programs:
224 courses approved to be taught online.  Online course offerings vary each semester.

Online Programs Available:
Masters in Library Science/Instructional Technology: Classes are offered in a variety of flexible formats including face-to-face, online, and hybrid (a combination of face-to-face and online meetings).  This program is designed for working adults who wish to enhance their technology skills while earning their master’s degree. The Instructional Technology program prepares educators for the 21st Century classroom and online teaching environments.
