Concurrent with its Summer Board of Directors Meeting, HETS celebrated a special event in New York City for Admissions, Distance Learning and Information Technology Directors on June, 28 2017, at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). The main purpose of this event was to identify strategies, and explore ways to collaborate through HETS on maximizing the assistance for transfer students including attending the particular issues that also distance learning students would face. The session was directed by Ms. Yubelkys Montalvo, HETS Executive Director, and Ms. Diane Walleser, Vice President for Enrollment Management at BMCC who also moderated the topic discussion. Participants attended face to face this event from; Bronx Community College; California State University, San Marcos; College of Staten Island; Hostos Community College; Framingham State University; LaGuardia Community College; Lehman College, Southeast Missouri State University; Stella and Charles Guttman Community College; Inter American University of PR in Puerto Rico and NY; University of Houston Downtown; University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and Borough of Manhattan Community College. In addition, participants connected online from EDP University; Carlos Albizu University; John Jay College; California State University, Long Beach; Springfield Technical Community College; and University of Puerto Rico joined the event to collaborate in a very deep and interesting discussion about the transfer students process, and how HETS member institutions can help make this a seamless transition. The event closed with a brief presentation of the discussion results and recommendations to the HETS Board of Directors which allowed HETS to learn more about student needs and the best ways to create additional support services for them and our member institutions. HETS would like to recognize BMCC’s staff that helped with the setup of their outstanding facilities at Fiterman Hall and the live transmission and recording of the event. Concurrent with its winter Board meeting, on January 15, HETS celebrated the Lehman College Dashboard Tool event hosted by Universidad del Este, AGMUS. The main purpose of the event was to share Lehman College’s best practices in specific operational and educational areas and test the system live with a real time response. This tool was developed in house by the institution Information Technology department in order to better analyze student data and serve them effectively and maximizing administrative performance.
HETS was pleased to invite member institution’s Directors of Information Technology to participate of the Lehman College Dashboard Showcase event concurrent to the HETS Board meeting in January 15, 2015. This event was by invitation only and it was an opportunity to learn about innovative initiatives and projects that Lehman College is implementing in different areas; presented by Mr. Ronald Bergmann, Vice President of Information Technology Division /CIO and Lei Millman, Developer, Information Technology Division, Lehman College.
