CCC”s Center for Distance Learning

City Colleges of Chicago is one of the pioneers in distance learning. In 1956, CCC first offered college courses by television. TV College was established in partnership with Chicago Public Schools and WTTW Channel 11. With the development of City Wide College in 1976, the Center for Open Learning was established. In 1999, CCC established the Center for Distance Learning.

Today, the Center for Distance Learning (CDL) is the coordinating unit for all distance learning courses available through the City Colleges of Chicago. Under the administrative leadership of the President of Kennedy King College, the CDL is one of Illinois” leading providers of distance learning courses. The mission of the CDL is to provide the students of the City Colleges of Chicago with an alternative means of attaining college credit and professional development opportunities through the use of a sound curriculum of distance learning courses using the latest distance learning technologies.
